MELLOTT -- Clarence Haas, 90, died Sunday at the winter home of his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lotus Allen, in Port Charlotte, Fla. He had been staying with the Allens in Florida. Their summer home is near Lafayette. Born in Richland Township, near Mellott on Nov. 27, 1874, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Haas. He married the former Anna Gardner. His wife preceded him in death at their home in Mellott in 1952. Most of Mr. Haas' life was spent in and around Mellott. He was a retired truck driver for the Standard Oil Co. After his wife's death, he had lived at various times with his children. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Glee Allen, Mrs. Samuel (Marguerite) Davidson of Wallace and Mrs. Sherrill (Lucille) Melton of Palmyra, Ind., and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening.
